Improve your productivity through expert process training! |
The global compounding marketplace now demands smaller lots with frequent product changeovers. Medium to large scale compounding lines that used to run for days now run for hours at a time. Rising resin costs combined with high output twin-screw machinery requires high production efficiency for these short campaigns and quick turnaround.
In the past, automation was the key to increased production efficiency for extended runs and large lots. With shorter runs and more frequent changeovers, machine operators have a significant impact on yield losses. The key to profitability is a highly skilled production staff that can minimize off-spec material, optimize process conditions and rapidly diagnose problems.

Webinar: Computer Process Simulation For Twin-Screw Compounding Applications
Date:Tuesday, June 22, 2010
Time: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM EDT
Webinar Description: The ability to model and predict twin-screw extruder performance for
compounding processes will be presented using the WinTXS simulation
software from PolyTech. Simulation of what is happening inside the
extruder barrel enables the optimization of screw design and operating
conditions, diagnosis of processing problems as well as direct scale-up
from the laboratory or pilot plant to any size machine from any OEM
manufacturer. Case studies will be presented highlighting the utility of
process simulation as a tool for increased productivity.
Space is limited.

Making Properties and Profits: Twin Screw Extrusion Seminar
Date: March 30-31, 2010 and September 15-16, 2010
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Cost: $875 USD
CEU's: 1.5
Instructor: Adam Dreiblatt
Location: Akron Polymer Training Center, Akron, OH, 44325-5404
Course Overview: This two-day seminar focuses on the application of intermeshing co-rotating extruders in compounding applications. Training is directed towards machine operators, process engineers and supervisors, as well as product development scientists in both research and manufacturing environments. Participants are reminded that the goal of compounding is to produce properties, not pellets. The goal of this seminar is to explain how twin-screw extruders create properties.
Interactions between screw design, raw materials and process parameters are presented in such a way that both experienced users and novices will benefit. Common unit operations are explained in practical terms with no prior knowledge or experience required. Upon completion of the training, participants will return to the workplace armed with techniques to improve quality, production rate and yield.
